Stepping Strip Footings

When strip footings are used on sloping sites, it is often necessary to step the footing down the slope ,on gently sloping sites.  The bottom of the trench can be allowed to slope up to 6°, or one in 10.  But the top of the footing still needs to be level and stepped. The height of the steps ideally should suit brick courses to minimize any brick cutting when laying the base brickwork.
And Steep slopes will require the bottom of the trench to be stepped ,steps in the footing should be constructed as shown in
Methods of stepping footings ,steps in the footing can usually be formed using a couple of bricks placed during levelling off. Use a laser level and steel height pegs to set the top of the strip footing and where any steps should finish in the trench.
