Pipe Penetrations

Any pipes or conduit that may  need to pass through strip footings.
This is okay in the middle third of a footings depth, but if it occurs anywhere else, the thicknesses of the footing and possibly the reinforcement needs to be modified to increase the strength at this point.  This is usually achieved by increasing the depth of the footing by at least, the diameter of the pipe that is passing through it and bending the reinforcement to allow that to pass around the pipe with the correct cover.
If bending the reinforcement at this point is not practical.  It can be cut out and further reinforcement
added.
Any pipes that pass through the footing should be wrapped with a foam lagging or a rubber sleeved to allow for the movement and prevent damage to the pipes

"The same principle applies for rock out crops that may occur inside a footing.Extra reinforcement may be added around the obstruction in the footing"
